Since its appearance in the mid-19th century until now, the coffee farming area in Vietnam has continuously increased and exported to all over the world. However, there are some regions that are best suited to coffee growing and where farms and farmers can be found to suit any need. This article will mention some of the most popular coffee growing regions in Vietnam.
Coffee plants first appeared in Vietnam around the mid-19th century andwere grown in Quang Tri province. Since then, the coffee farming area hascontinuously increased and become one of the most exported agriculturalproducts in the country. But that does not mean that every region or provincecan grow coffee. Below are some regions and provinces that grow the most coffeefor your reference.
1. Central Highlands region
The Central Highlands includes 5 provinces: Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Dak Nong,Gia Lai, Lam Dong. The Central Highlands has basalt red soil suitable forgrowing many different types of plants. The altitude is about 500-600m abovesea level, so it has a cool climate and a lot of annual rainfall. Such soil andclimate conditions are very suitable for coffee trees to grow.
Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak is the coffee "basket" with the highestoutput in Vietnam, also known as the coffee capital of the country. In LamDong, there is also the famous "Cau Dat" Arabica, famous for itsunique and diverse taste.
Other provinces of the Central Highlands also have equally high output. At the same time, thanks to the good soil, suitable for many types of fruittrees, the flavor of coffee here when roasted shows a high degree ofsophistication and complexity.
2. Northwest region
Many provinces in the Northwest also have climatic conditions similar tothe Central Highlands, so the ability to grow coffee is very good. For a longtime, provinces such as Dien Bien and Son La have stood shoulder to shoulderwith the Central Highlands provinces to become the leading pillars in coffeefarming and export.
This land does not have an ideal altitude, but Arabica can still be grownthanks to the typical climatic conditions near the Northern latitude, thetemperature amplitude fluctuates perfectly for Arabica trees. In areas likeMuong Ang, there is a strong rise in both quality and quantity of coffee.
3. Some Central provinces
When coffee trees first came to Vietnam, they were first planted in QuangTri. Currently, although the output cannot be compared to the Central Highlandsor Northwest because the soil is not as suitable, some regions such as Khe Sanhstill produce quality coffee beans.
More specifically, there is also Liberica coffee growing here, which weoften call "jackfruit coffee". This is a coffee bean that does notoccupy a high proportion in Vietnam or the world but still has its own loyal"fans".
